VELvet 100
ROCKFORD, IL

If Nu Disco, house and chill music inspired by classic dance sounds of the 1970s is your jam, then you’re in luck. Velvet 100 is coming to DEVIATE and bringing original music that combines funk, dance, groove and smooth beats and sounds. Inspired by Chic, Sade and Warren Hill, Velvet 100 is bringing the perfect set list to accompany the many sights and sounds that can be found at this interactive art show meets party.

Robert Shallenberger is a long time musician who zeros in on keeping things chilled out and down tempo with his multilayered, euphoric yet peaceful contributions to the scene. His sound is sure to promise escapism that softly drowns out the weight of the world. Check him out for this one-night-only event on October 15.

Can you tell us some information about your music? How would you describe your style/sound? My Genre is Nu Disco/Deep House/Chill

Where do you find the inspiration for your sets? Inspiration comes from the classic dance music from the late 70's and influences such as Chic, Go West, Luther Vandross, Sade and smooth Jazz artists such as Warren Hill, Boney James, Pat Metheny Group, etc..

Where can we find your work? stores, and events you have been involved in. You can find Velvet 100 on all music streaming platforms worldwide. CDs are available on Amazon Music and at Velvet-100.com

What are your future goals for your work?  My goals are to continue to release new music at my own pace and eventually a full length album in 2024, along with a busy summer 2023 -24 touring schedule. Since the debut release in Oct 2021, I have been fortunate enough to be contacted by event planners in several countries and currently a 2023 festival schedule is in the works.

What do you want us to know about your music/style? My music is all original and I play and program all the music myself, no other artists are involved except for the occasional guest singer. My new single "Move" features a guest vocal by Karra and is a perfect fit. My style has been described by one music magazine as "Chic meets Sade". The funk dance groove of Chic blended with the smooth sophistication of Sade.

What is your background? How did you get into music? Give us a little history! I have played music since I was 14, piano, guitar, bass, drums and have played in several cover bands as well as an all original band that did Midwest tours with Loverboy, REO Speedwagon, Cheap Trick among others early in my career.

What are you most excited about for DEVIATE? Deviate is a perfect event for forward thinkers who want to be on the leading edge of what's happening now and a glimpse of what will be coming in the future. It's also a great event to showcase a variety of talent that everyone can enjoy and talk about until the next one. I am excited to be involved!
