Can you tell us some information about your art? How would you describe it? My art is storytelling/directing/singing. I combine my skills as a musical artist and a visual artist to create unique cohesive projects such as short films and music videos.
Where do you find your inspiration? I find my inspiration from events from my past. Growing up as an immigrant kid in America was tough, especially being the only Indian kid around.
Is this your full-time job? If not, where do you work? Running my visual production company ICON Studios is my full-time business.
What are your future goals for your art? To create an affordable art production studio in Rockford IL. 20,000 sq. Ft. of space for creativity and all the tools to accomplish dreams.
What are you most excited about for DEVIATE? Why should people come to DEVIATE? I'm excited to see all the amazing artists at this year's DEVIATE event. Last year was such a success. My brother Avi was DJing last year and this year we both are a part of this event. It makes me excited.
Why should people come to check you out at DEVIATE? I'm an international award-winning director who's been to the Grammy's and has worked on numerous projects.
What do you want us to know about your art, your style? My art is a combination of my visual skills and my musical skills. There are tons of great artists who sing and tons of great directors and filmmakers. I choose to express both.
What is your background? How did you get into art, did you go to school for it, etc. Give us a little history! I was born in a small village in India and came to the United States at the age of 2. My love and passion for creating art led me to create ICON. I love to shoot cinematic videos and photos, so I took over the majority of the production for ICON Visuals. I'm also obsessed with creating music. Rapping and producing beats are two ways where I'm able to express my love for music, hence creating ICON Music. Ever since I was a kid, I knew that I wouldn’t fit in with most people. I knew that I was different and that my differences made me great. So instead of trying to neglect my differences, I decided to embrace them.
Ever since then, I’ve never looked back. Creating art is my addiction. I decided to create ICON, with Chad, to be able to express my creativity and to bring my art to the world. In doing so, I attracted more like-minded individuals which just added to the creativity and talent pool at ICON. Not only was my goal with ICON to express creativity, but it was also to bring high-level production work to the average consumer. I wanted to provide people with real, high-quality art.
