ROCKFORD, IL

DJ King Woo has always had a passion for music. He played the drums as a kid and tried his hand at a couple different instruments to scratch his musical itch. After going to a few festivals and shows throughout the years, he quickly found out where his true passion was, which was in the electronic music scene. His wife gave him a DJ controller and the rest is history.

King Woo is bringing his unique style and sound to the DEVIATE stage this year with his diverse mix of sounds with a big emphasis on dubstep. King Woo is going to be a vibe and you’re going to want to make sure you’re there to see, hear and feel it. King Woo is deviating on September 16, will you?

Tell us about your music? How would you describe your style/sound? I DJ/produce with a wide variety of inspiration from different electronic genres of music. With a main focal point around Dubstep, and the HEAVY kind to be exact. But I really enjoy mixing things up during my sets, switching up the genres to keep it interesting. I also have produced a few songs outside of dubstep, and plan to always keep a diverse sounding style!

Where do you find the inspiration for your music? Through the love, vibes, and energy of the electronic music scene!!

Where can we find your work? What other events have you been involved in? SoundCloud is my main place for posting my work. I’ve recently been playing in different areas around Illinois/Wisconsin. I often play and am very involved with a project that has helped kickstart my musical journey…The Bass Barn!

What do you want us to know about your music/style? The main goal I have is to bring good energy and vibes to all listening while showing love through music! Have a great time and enjoy yourself!!

What’s your background? How did you get into music? Give us a little history! I have always had a love for music. Starting in my younger years and all through high school I played drums for both school and as a hobby. I tried picking up a few other instruments along the way but later in life found my true love and passion for music in the electronic music scene. After attending shows/festivals for a few years I picked up DJing when my wife (whom I met at my first festival) got me a DJ controller. Years later I am now diving into music production and still DJing and loving every step of the process!

What are you most excited for about DEVIATE? Why should people come out to DEVIATE? The uniqueness of this event really draws my attention. I am very excited to walk around and check out all the different styles of art that I may not normally see! People should come out because it’s something different! I have learned to love different, and so many unique, beautiful souls are around those types of events! Come on out, let’s have some fun!

How did you hear about DEIVATE and why did you want to be part of the second annual event? My good friend Sarah (Lost Anchors Art) told me about this event! She will be flowing this year, check her out!

I feel it’s a great spot to express yours and appreciate others artistic abilities. I am so in and excited for Deviate!! :)
