Adem Dalipi
Marion, Illinois

At just 11-years-old, Adem Dalipi was writing his own songs and learning how to play the guitar and produce his own songs. He eventually caught the attention of a producer from American Idol and went on to audition where he was awarded the golden ticket to Hollywood where he performed in front of Lionel RIchie, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan.

Adem is bringing his blues-influenced style and original music to DEVIATE where you can catch him live on October 15.

How would you describe your music?

Having a major blues influence when I was first getting into music, I've always wanted to keep my influences from the genre present in the songs I write. I feel the direction I'm going towards with my newer songs is a nostalgic Indie/Pop with that Blues Influence.

Where do you find your inspiration?

Growing up, once I started branching into singing and writing my own tunes, I was pulling a lot of inspiration from a mix of different artists, mainly from Stevie Ray Vaughn, Jimi Hendrix, Ed Sheeran, and John Mayer. More recently, I've really been pulling inspiration from Artists and producers such as Mac Ayres, Mac DeMarco, Charlie Puth, and many more newer artists.

How long does it take for you to write a song from start to finish? How do you make your music? Writing a song really comes down to the mood I'm in that day, along with what kind of song I'm writing. If I'm really into the idea and it's coming naturally, I could have a full song written within 2-4 hours. Other songs I like to write tend to push my musiciality and lyrical abilities, and those songs could sit in my unwritten library for a couple weeks until I revisit the idea or have something pop up that pushes me over to finish the song.

Where can we find your work? Examples of galleries, stores, and events you have been involved in. You can find all of my originals on all streaming services (Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon Music, Soundcloud, ETC.) under my name "Adem Dalipi". And if you're up to it, you can check out a fun songwriting competition I was recently on by searching "The Shot Canada" on YouTube!

What is your background? Growing up, I had always wanted a guitar, but it wasn't until my 3rd grade music teacher realized I had a natural ear for music. Picking up songs fast in the music class, he initiated my journey in music with a simple phone call to my parents. What started as playing guitar at the age of 9 would explode into a self taught singer/songwriter, producer, and artist within a decade. I've been very fortunate with the experiences I've been through, Traveling from New Orleans to Canada for some amazing opportunities, including performances on American Idol, the Chicago House of Blues, and many other venues.

Is this your full-time job? If so, where do you work?  I'm currently doing many things along with Music, which include schooling and an internship for Electrical Engineering! But I've built up my own home studio in my basement, where I started investing in a bunch of audio production equipment during the start of the pandemic to continue recording and releasing my own music.

What are your future goals for your music?  I would love to continue booking shows throughout the summer/fall season and perform live with my band, and I'd love to work with other artists and develop my audio production skills, and help others record and write their own tunes along with my own!

What do you want us to know about your art, your design, or anything at all?If you'd like to stay in tune with my future shows/song releases, give me a follow on Instagram/TikTok @ademdalipi or on FaceBook @ademdalipiofficial

What are you most excited about for DEVIATE? What's really exciting about DEVIATE is the chance to check out all the independent artists and musicians there! People should come to DEVIATE to hear something new, and find something they don't get to see on a daily basis. Supporting independent artists should be more common, and DEVIATE is helping greatly with that. People should come check out me and the band if they're looking to listen to a modern day powerhouse Trio!
